A portrait of Squeezebox Teddy? Actually, it's impossible. People who are firmly rooted are easiest to describe. The musician, born in Berlin and now living near Dessau, does not fit this description due to his profession. He is constantly on the move, and not just in the literal sense. The artist, born in 1957, has his roots in street music. This partly explains his unmistakable interpretation of Irish and international songs. The year 1991, in which he toured with the Kelly Family at several concerts, certainly shaped him as well. He played with Dermot O'Connor (from the group Spud - 1971 No. 1 in the Irish charts with "The Wind in the Willows") and George Kaye (from "The Smokey Mountain Ramblers" – 1970 No. 1 in the Irish charts with "Ballad of Amelia Earhart") in the formation "The Permanent Cure," which from 1993-1998 was one of the best Irish bands on German soil. His work as an entertainer at the Pirate Open Air Theater in Grevesmühlen for 15 years has certainly influenced him as well.

The man with the extraordinary voice has performed in many countries, and anyone who has heard him once never forgets him. His over 5000 performances and concerts in over 30 years are remarkable, including annual regular stage appearances at major city festivals such as the Hamburg Harbor Birthday, Kiel Week, and Rostock Hanse Sail.

With long white hair and a bushy beard, he prefers a somewhat casual look. Those familiar with artists from various genres would not expect anything else and are not disappointed. His voice has been described as smoky, underlaid with tremolo, as the sad song of a melancholic gypsy or a powerful expression of life, being expressive and melodic. One might imagine a mix of Demis Roussos seasoned with a bit of Edith Piaf and some melancholy of Zarah Leander, all paired with a hint of whiskey-soaked mood from the Dubliners, politically always up-to-date and yet wise... Often, people speak after a concert of the feeling that they have spent hours with a long-lost friend.
