Theresa Sperling is a writer, playwright, stage poet, and teacher, and in 2024 she became the European champion in poetry slam. She is known for her profound feminist texts. The ARD documentary "Doctors Without Conscience" uncovered human experiments conducted by prominent doctors during the Nazi era in 1996. Through this, Theresa Sperling's family learned that her grandfather, the internationally renowned neurologist Prof. Dr. med. Georges Schaltenbrand, had also conducted human experiments as part of his multiple sclerosis research. After years of research, Theresa Sperling's father, Alf Mintzel, published the biographical work "The File on Georges Schaltenbrand is Not Yet Closed" with the help of his daughter in 2023. The Augustaschacht memorial, in cooperation with the Osnabrück Adult Education Center, invites you to a reading by Theresa Sperling on Sunday, February 8, at 3 PM. She will share her childhood memories of her grandfather and read from his stirring diary entries and correspondences. The lecture provides insights into the disturbing thought processes of a representative of the medical elite of that time and the emotionally burdensome processing by his descendants. The lecture will be musically accompanied by Baruch Chauskin, cantor of the Jewish Community of Osnabrück, Bobby Rootveld from the German-Dutch duo NIHZ, and musician Gergö Pázmándi. Registration can be done via email at info@augustaschacht.de or by phone at 05405 8959270.
