KOSMOS Chemnitz

On August 29, 2026, the KOSMOS Festival will take place around the Chemnitz Castle Pond. The festival for democracy provides a platform for regional and international projects, positions, and ideas. People from the fields of art, music, sports, business, politics, and society come together in various formats to discuss: discussions take place in empty retail spaces, a kebab shop turns into a dance floor, a parking garage becomes a reading room, and a laundromat transforms into a workshop venue. It facilitates an exchange between cultural creators and engaged citizens about relevant issues in our society and the future of Chemnitz and Europe. Here, the democracy of tomorrow can be shaped by presenting the ideas and visions of all participants, regardless of their background or religion. It offers an opportunity to advocate for openness to the world, tolerance, and civil courage, and to actively participate in the further development of the city and its residents.
