On tour with the Frelsbachtalbahn

The railway line Rochlitz-Narsdorf-Penig was opened in 1872 by the Royal Saxon State Railways, making it even older than the Muldental Railway. The last train ran on the Narsdorf-Penig section in 1990, and the Rochlitz-Narsdorf line was also closed in 2002. Since 2017, the IG Muldental BahnTourismus e.V. has been the owner of the line.

The current tourist route of the Frelsbachtalbahn between Rochlitz and Narsdorf is approximately 9.4 kilometers long. It winds its way from the Muldental in Rochlitz through a beautiful natural landscape, along the Frelsbach stream through the Köttwitzschtal valley to Narsdorf. The railway overcomes a height difference of 110.5 meters.

Trains are pulled by the open carriages from the rotary power car KL 51 "Fritz," the railcar SKL 25 "Karl," or the MAV "Piroska." Boarding and alighting are possible at both Rochlitz station and the Narsdorf stop. Ticket price: 14 euros, for children aged six and older 7 euros.
