What a feeling of life, the "Seventies"!!! Colorful patterned wallpapers, parkas, hot pants, and platform shoes. Distinction was the order of the day, even in the former GDR. It was during this time, in 1976, that Wolf Rüdiger Raschke, together with the frontman of the early days, Reinhard (Oschek) Huth, founded the band Karussell in Leipzig. Two musicians from the legendary Renft Combo, which had been silenced by a professional ban imposed by the GDR state authorities, joined them. Peter "Cäsar" Gläser and Jochen Hohl came on board with Karussell, bringing both old and new songs. Thus, Karussell developed into one of the most successful rock bands alongside the Puhdys and Karat. Unmistakably unique, the band distinguished itself and was characterized by musical and lyrical depth. This distinction was a tightrope walk, which the lyricist Kurt Demmler managed particularly well. His poetry, a mix of emotional depth and social criticism, was cleverly packaged and often eluded those who thought superficially. As a result, some lyrics slipped through censorship and revealed themselves to fans who had learned to read between the lines. The songs reached their hearts and provided encouragement. Between 1979 and 1984, the critical and exciting albums were created: Entweder Oder, Das Einzige Leben, Schlaraffenberg, and Was kann ich tun. The constant companion was the radio producer Luise Mirsch. Critical, inspiring, and upright, she walked the narrow path of existing possibilities with Karussell all those years. Location: Hall, Old Gasometer Zwickau Admission: Advance sale €32 plus fees.
