Concert Tour 2026: Eläkeläiset – "Humppaaxident II"

Eläkeläiset are the "biggest Humppa band in the world." That's what they say themselves – and who would disagree? In their home country of Finland, the "pensioners" have long been a cult institution, with their albums regularly landing at the top of the charts. But even here in Germany, the band has an impressively large and, above all, loyal fanbase. The number of their releases? Countless! They even received a gold certification for a DVD in Finland. Their first performance in Germany took place exactly 30 years ago – on March 2, 1996, at Juz Rostock. A good reason to celebrate this anniversary properly! A new album is also planned for 2026 – fans can look forward to it! What is Humppa, anyway? Humppa is a type of Finnish polka that begins with a short, punchy drum intro and is perfect for conga lines and push dances. Eläkeläiset claim that all rock, pop, and other classics only sound really good when they are transformed into Humppa versions. Four crazy Finns, rarely sober, take well-known chart hits from rock, pop, and metal, not only cover them but also "improve" them in a polka style. The twist: They sing exclusively in Finnish! The lyrics have only a distant connection to the originals – they fill translation gaps with Finnish swear words or simply with "Humppa." They assault the bass, accordion, drums, and keyboard at breathtaking speed. On stage, unusual instruments like chainsaws, ninja stars, shotguns, and batons are also a must. The most popular game at live shows: "What the hell is the original name of this song again?" For a little orientation: "Enter Sandman" is called "Soramonttuhumppa" and "Macarena" becomes "Panojenkka." However, "Humppa Hallelujaa" is instantly recognizable even to newcomers! Unfortunately, not all record labels and copyright holders share the opinion that everything sounds better in Humppa style. This has already led to heated disputes – proof that there are plenty of people without a sense of humor in the music industry.
