A song goes around the world A song that you like The melody reaches the stars Each of us enjoys listening to it Skeptic, a person inclined to a way of thinking and behaving characterized by skepticism, see doubt; Skeptiker, a punk band founded in East Berlin in 1986 The Skeptics XL: Forty years of punk rock The discomfort of the individual in society, his skepticism and doubt have been expressively breaking through under the name DIE SKEPTIKER for four decades – on recordings, at live concerts, and in the hearts of their fans, who now span at least two (lyric-savvy) generations. Yes, yes, yes: DIE SKEPTIKER are turning 40! To celebrate, they are going on a lively anniversary tour. DIE SKEPTIKER, founded in 1986 in East Berlin, play energetic, electrifying, and euphoric punk rock with clever German lyrics. The constant and only remaining member of the founding formation is singer and lyricist EUGEN BALANSKAT. Through member changes and a band hiatus (2000-2006), albums and tours, the trials of life and societal change, one thing is certain: The band and its singer have lost none of their emotional power to this day! We are talking about attitude. An attitude that has been consistently and openly, seriously and convincingly expressed by DIE SKEPTIKER for four decades: to boldly and angrily drive society forward, eroding it. Hard and fast in rhythm, serious and political in demeanor, lyrical and intelligent in lyrics – to this day, punk rock with style and the incomparable voice of our charismatic Caruso-punk Eugen. DIE SKEPTIKER, with frontman Eugen Balanskat, Dominik Glöckner and Matthias Stephan on guitars, Jacob Thauer on bass, and Wieland Wehr on drums, are still an "other band," a fresh, timeless yet contemporary group with historical and critical awareness and their own perspective on the "future." For the history books: The talk of the "Dead Kennedys of the East" has a flaw – DIE SKEPTIKER could never, ever replace their singer! The tour for the 40th anniversary of the band celebrates both old and new songs from their first recordings to the latest album. The motto is: No distance is too far! Because there have always been and will always be hard times, messes anyway, Dada in Berlin – here, there in Berlin! On the road are Black Messengers and Steel Bird Warriors, early works are performed, after all, it’s about food and morality, so it’s time to stand up! The classics of the early days are fresh and valid, and the new works seamlessly connect to them. We hear Eugen with powerful youthful anger. We feel and know: This band is needed. DIE SKEPTIKER are needed. The song remains eternal. Where Eugen sings, where DIE SKEPTIKER play, feel free to settle down. Come dance! Support: Piefke: PIEFKE play sharp German punk, have invisibly bad moods, but you can hear it: From cops and pigs, rents and stones, everything is included that makes the critical punk rock heart beat faster. If the spit and sweat droplets from the band are now dripping off your leather jackets, it’s clear: You certainly can’t imagine a more beautiful apocalypse. (Text by Bimmi) Founded in 2017, the first EP "Dreck" was released as a cassette by the French label Aucouphenes Records in October of that year.
