Karaoke Slam – "Jewish Voices Reheard"

Workshop: 2 PM to 6 PM Stage Program: 8 PM to 10 PM As part of the Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony, the youth section of the Alter Gasometer association invites you to a special experience: At the Karaoke Slam "Jewish Voices Reheard," music, poetry, and encounters come together. Participants reinterpret songs and texts by Jewish and Israeli artists – with voice, feeling, and creativity. The audience can expect an evening full of emotion, wit, and cultural diversity. In the afternoon (2 PM to 6 PM), a workshop offers the opportunity to develop your own texts and songs. Encounters with Jewish people create new perspectives and creative impulses that will be presented on stage in the evening. Afterwards, a DJ set will provide danceable sounds ranging from Israeli pop, Klezmer-electro, to Mizrahi beats. The event is organized in cooperation with the Spektakel Kollektiv Chemnitz, known for our successful poetry slam formats at the Alter Gasometer, as well as with the initiative "Meet a Jew." Its members provide authentic insights into today's Jewish everyday life in Germany through personal encounters – beyond clichés and history books. This fosters genuine exchange: talking with each other instead of about each other.
