An inspiring lecture filled with very personal impressions, complemented by exciting images and video sequences from the world of mountains. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is the first woman in the world to have reached all 14 peaks of 8000 meters without the use of supplemental oxygen and without the support of high-altitude porters. In her current presentation, she will share her approach to the inner dimension of mountaineering through various excerpts from her expeditions. She talks about her physical and mental preparation, her enduring enthusiasm, as well as how she deals with setbacks and overcomes extremely difficult situations. Important elements for Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner include meditation, inner gut feelings, as well as nutrition and a deep connection to the mountains and nature. In the second part of the lecture, Gerlinde will take you along on her ascent of K2, the most difficult of all 8000-meter peaks. On the Chinese side of the mountain, she successfully reached the summit in 2011 as part of an international team on her seventh attempt via the very challenging and rarely traversed North Pillar. Look forward to an entertaining evening with an extraordinary woman.
