Idols, Gods, Sacred Horses - A Winter Holiday Workshop

In this holiday program, we dive into the world of the Slavs. About 1,300 years ago, the first Slavic settlements are believed to have emerged in the state of Brandenburg. Later, wooden castles and temples were added. From this time, we have sporadically found figures made of wood or bronze, and rarely carved in stone, in our state and beyond. They likely represented deities, oracle animals, or prominent individuals. A newly discovered find might even depict Jesus Christ. Together, we will learn interesting facts about these fascinating traces from distant times. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to create their own figures based on templates. Under guidance, they will use colors or modeling clay to produce their own works, which can be taken home as souvenirs.
