Unforgettable, timeless, legendary: Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) wrote countless songs for eternity during their short career. This is celebrated by George & The Midnight Special from Switzerland. No, the Bernese dialect rocker George Schwab did not always sing in Bernese German. He earned his stripes as the frontman of a cover band, with which he played over 200 shows in the 1990s. To get the position at the microphone, he had to audition, performing four songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, or CCR for short. "These songs were already incredibly great back then," George recalls. "And they have accompanied me since childhood." It was high time to pay tribute to the work of the legendary quartet for an entire concert evening. Or as George puts it: "To realize a long-held dream!" For some time now, he has been playing a CCR medley during his solo concerts. "Because these wonderful songs have always accompanied and inspired me." Unsurprisingly, fans always celebrate this performance enthusiastically. That’s why George has now teamed up with four musicians from the Bernese Seeland and the Bernese Oberland to bring the unique songs of CCR to life on stage. Under the name George & The Midnight Special—logically inspired by the CCR song of the same name—the five will present nothing but songs from the seemingly inexhaustible repertoire of CCR for an entire evening. "We completely forgo experiments or gimmicks," George promises. He adds: "On the contrary: We try to get as close as possible to the originals of these unique and timeless songs and to spend an unforgettable evening together with the audience."
