The construction and planning of the factory, along with the marketing campaigns of billionaire and company owner Elon Musk, promised thousands of jobs and prosperity for the region. The federal state sold its forest land in the water protection area to Tesla for 43 million euros. Since the factory began operations, civil society, the corporation, employees, and the press have been arguing over water and energy consumption, taxes, jobs, drinking water contamination, sustainability, and long-term liabilities...
