For Rudolf Buchbinder, Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor is simply "the perfect concerto." Who could disagree with him here? Julia Hagen, once a master student of Heinrich Schiff and now risen to the forefront of her profession, immediately starts to rave: "It may be the most beautiful cello concerto." The wealth of melodies in Dvořák's work finds a monumental counterpart that evening with the European Union Youth Orchestra under the direction of Spanish conductor Gustavo Gimeno, performing Anton Bruckner's Sixth Symphony. However, Bruckner's large works always contain widely sung lyrical sections: No one wrote more beautiful adagios than Bruckner in his late symphonies, of which the Sixth can already be counted. Together with the Fifth and Seventh, it is the only completed symphony that its creator never revised.
