"Zones of Blue" Neuwirth in Grafenegg

A Meeting of Generations: Music by Krzysztof Penderecki, the first Composer in Residence at Grafenegg, and by Olga Neuwirth, who will hold this title as the 20th in 2026, will be featured alongside the latest works of the participants in the Composer-Conductor Workshop "Ink Still Wet" during an evening concert. The soloist for the Rhapsody for Orchestra "Zones of Blue" by Olga Neuwirth, which will have its world premiere in February 2026 in Munich, is the 2014 Composer in Residence, the dedicatee Jörg Widmann. Conducting will be the 2017 Composer in Residence, Brad Lubman. The score of Olga Neuwirth's "Zones of Blue" includes the poem "Blue Song" by Tennessee Williams, which states, among other things: "I am tired. / Tired of speech and of action." The composition was created in memory of her father, Harald Neuwirth, who passed away in 2023.
