Overnight to global stardom: The Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian sang and performed her way to the forefront of the international opera world as the sensational Salome at the Salzburg Festival in 2018. Among her recent successes is the title role in Vincenzo Bellini's "Norma" at the Theater an der Wien. At the Grafenegg Festival, she will debut with "Casta Diva," the aria of Norma, and the final scene of Salome. The Tonkünstler Orchestra, under its chief conductor Fabien Gabel, will provide orchestral counterpoints to Bellini and Richard Strauss with the ballet music from Giuseppe Verdi's "Macbeth" and the short, virtuosic orchestral piece "Salomé" by the French composer Mél Bonis. Ottorino Respighi dressed the magic of Italy in orchestral splendor in his "Fontane di Roma," reminiscent of Richard Strauss.
