Inspired by the impressive soundscape of the gigantic waters of the Argentine-Brazilian Iguazú River, before they plunge into the waterfall known as Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), Georg Friedrich Haas composed his eponymous work for up to ten sound works. "As spectacular as the Iguazú Falls are [...] – the most impressive part was a hike above the falls, which could only be heard but not seen," the composer recounts. "For hours, the path led flatly over small bridges and islands, the water below rushed by with visible acceleration, disappearing from sight, and we knew that in just a few minutes it would plunge hundreds of meters in free fall." Christoph Sietzen – winner of the ARD Music Competition and professor of percussion at the Anton Bruckner Private University – brings this rhythmic endless spiral to life together with the Ensemble Motus Percussion in the trend sports hall of the Lissfeld Sports Park, surrounded by skate ramps and rails in a unique location.
