Jewish Halberstadt

The "Walk through Jewish Halberstadt" allows for an exploration of the historical conditions in which Jews lived, understanding Jews as active citizens of the city, and conveying the internal religious development of the Jewish community in Halberstadt. The walk begins at the Klaus synagogue in the former Jewish quarter below the Petershof, the former bishop's palace and later the seat of the Prussian government. The route leads over the Peterstreppe, the Cathedral Square, the two oldest Jewish cemeteries, then back to the lower town, and concludes with a visit to the art project "And the Living Should Take It to Heart..." at the site of the destroyed Baroque synagogue and the Berend Lehmann Museum in the Mikwenhaus.
