The incredible story of the eccentric New York table tennis professional Marty Mauser. Shoe salesman Marty (Timothée Chalamet) has only one goal in life: to win the table tennis world championship and thus rise to the Olympus of celebrated athletes, among whom he already counts himself. In order to participate in the British Championships in far-off London, the young con artist bets everything on one card, but in the nerve-wracking final, he is defeated by the Japanese sports star Endo. However, this is just the beginning of an odyssey that takes the perpetually broke Marty far beyond his limits. For his uncle's small shoe store, his dream is a size too big. Timothée Chalamet shines as MARTY SUPREME, who risks everything for his piece of fame. Directed by Josh Safdie, his globe-spanning adventure takes us from the backyards of Manhattan to the visually stunning landscapes of Paris, London, Cairo, and Tokyo in the 1950s.
