Guest tour "From Moor to Sea" - A glimpse into the past of Rhauderfehn –

This guided tour begins at the Fehn and Shipping Museum in Westrhauderfehn with a short walk through the exhibition. Here, you will receive initial information about the Fehn culture, peat extraction, and shipping activities. Following this, we will embark on a walk of approximately 1.8 km. At various stations, we will open a small window into the past and share stories from old times. Our route will take us past the Skipper's Monument, the former navigation school, and to the lock leading to the main Fehn canal. At the end of the tour, we will board the 118-year-old Tjalk "Ebenhaezer." In the cozily arranged former cargo hold of the ship, we will enjoy a delicious herring roll and conclude our little excursion into Fehn history with more information about shipping and shipbuilding on the Fehn. The unaccompanied return journey to the starting point is about 1000 m. Note: Instead of the herring roll, you can also receive an alternative with salami and/or cheese.
