Season opening and in line with International Women's Day – a documentary by Gerd Kroske. Germany immediately after the reunification. The second major wave of layoffs has reached the East. Women from the former large industrial enterprises of the GDR speak with surprising self-assurance about themselves and the personal independence they gained through their work. Confident and emancipated, they share their astonishment that suddenly only men are supposed to do their jobs. They also talk about the former utopias that no longer exist today. Additionally, we see footage from their working lives in long-gone industrial buildings and lignite mines.
