The Potsdam villa colony of Neu-Babelsberg is located directly by the Griebnitzsee and holds fascinating stories. Here lived people of rank and fame, including film stars like Brigitte Horney and Marika Rökk. Mies van der Rohe built one of his first houses in the neighborhood, and Erich Kästner found refuge here during the Nazi era. During the Potsdam Conference in 1945, heads of state such as former US President Truman resided here and made world-changing decisions.
