Latin Quarter – Acoustic

Latin Quarter first gained recognition in the 1980s with hits like "Radio Africa," "New Millionaires," and "America for Beginners" from the album "Modern Times." The album was highly praised by critics, including a review in the New York Post, which called it "one of the most exquisite electro-rock albums ever released in England." In Germany, Latin Quarter was particularly successful, regularly touring the country and appearing on many television shows, including Rockpalast and Extratour. In 1987, they were invited to perform at "Rock for Peace" in East Berlin, and later that year, they completed a tour with five concerts in the former GDR. The band recorded six albums before disbanding in 1997. However, in 2012, the band reunited and has since been more productive than ever. In the last 13 years, they have produced eight studio albums and one live album, promoting these albums with numerous concerts. In 2023, they celebrated their 40th anniversary with another tour in Germany. This tour featured a completely electric band, with the original guitarist Richard Wright returning. In contrast, in 2024, long-time members Steve Skaith, Steve Jeffries, and Mary Carewe joined forces with cellist Anna Carewe to form an acoustic quartet. They recorded the album "I Together," followed by an extremely successful tour through Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. This acoustic lineup was originally intended as a one-time project, but the response to the album and live performances was so positive that the band decided to continue as a quartet. Whether as an acoustic quartet or as a fully electric band, Latin Quarter's music has always combined melodic sounds with socially critical lyrics. This will also be the case with the new album the band is currently working on, which is set to be released in September 2026. In May 2026, there will be a tour with five concerts in Norway, followed by more concerts in Germany and the UK in September/October.
