34th International Ceramics Weeks with International Pottery Market

Dear guests, since 1992, the town of Hüfingen has been inviting art and ceramics enthusiasts from near and far to visit the charming little town of Baar as part of the International Ceramics Weeks. Discover the picturesque pottery market at Sennhofplatz (September 12 and 13) and the high-quality exhibitions of contemporary ceramics at the City Museum of Art and History (September 12 to October 4). We look forward to your visit! The International Ceramics Weeks took place for the first time in 1992. The main idea was to create a cultural niche in the event sector. It aimed to provide a forum for the presentation and exchange of ceramic artists and to offer an attractive event for the town and its visitors. The Ceramics Weeks were initiated by Ingrid Rockrohr and the then-mayor Anton Knapp. From the very beginning, they were supported by the Friends of the City Museum of Art and History, whose founder and former chairwoman, Eva von Lintig, provided the facilities of the City Museum for the exhibitions of contemporary ceramics. Thanks to her great sensitivity to ceramics and her good contacts with numerous renowned ceramic artists, Ingrid Rockrohr helped the pottery market and the exhibitions gain great popularity and international recognition. She established the event as an important institution. To this day, the Ceramics Weeks are among the highlights of the town of Hüfingen. Until 2014, Ingrid Rockrohr led the Ceramics Weeks and then handed over the artistic direction to the Bremen art historian and ceramics expert Dr. Walter Lokau. In 2022, the Waldkirch ceramicist Markus Klausmann took over the management of the pottery market. The artistic direction of the Ceramics Weeks was given in the same year to the visual artist and curator of the City Museum of Art and History, Ariane Faller. Since 2024, the organization of the pottery market as well as the artistic direction have also been in her hands. Currently, the profile of the Ceramics Weeks is being redefined and modernized. Two parallel exhibitions of national and international contemporary ceramics are taking place in the rooms of the City Museum of Art and History. In the beautiful setting of the Town Hall Gallery, the competition exhibition of the pottery market participants is presented.
