34th International Ceramics Weeks with International Pottery Market

Dear guests, since 1992, the town of Hüfingen has been inviting art and ceramics enthusiasts from near and far to visit the charming little town in the Baar region as part of its annual International Ceramics Weeks. Discover the picturesque pottery market on Sennhofplatz (September 12 and 13) and the high-quality exhibitions of contemporary ceramics in the Town Museum of Art and History (September 12 to October 4).  We look forward to seeing you there! The International Ceramics Weeks took place for the first time in 1992. The basic idea was to create a cultural niche in the events sector. The aim was to create a forum for presentation and exchange for ceramic artists and to offer an attractive event for the town and its visitors. The Ceramics Weeks were initiated by Ingrid Rockrohr and the then mayor Anton Knapp. From the outset, they were supported by the Friends of the City Museum of Art and History, whose founder and former chairwoman Eva von Lintig made the museum's premises available for exhibitions of contemporary ceramics. Thanks to her great sensitivity for ceramics and her good contacts with numerous renowned ceramic artists, Ingrid Rockrohr helped the pottery market and exhibitions achieve great popularity and international renown. She established the event as an important institution. To this day, the Ceramics Weeks are one of the highlights of the city of Hüfingen. Ingrid Rockrohr directed the Ceramics Weeks until 2014, when she handed over the artistic direction to Bremen art historian and ceramics expert Dr. Walter Lokau. In 2022, Waldkirch-based ceramicist Markus Klausmann took over the management of the pottery market. In the same year, the artistic direction of the Ceramics Weeks was taken over by visual artist and curator of the City Museum of Art and History, Ariane Faller. Since 2024, she has also been responsible for the organization of the pottery market and its artistic direction. The profile of the Ceramics Weeks is currently being revamped and brought up to date. Two parallel exhibitions of national and international contemporary ceramics are held in the rooms of the City Museum of Art and History. The competition exhibition of the pottery market participants is presented in the beautiful ambience of the Town Hall Gallery. The International Pottery Market invites visitors to the historic heart of the town of Hüfingen, on Sennhofplatz.
