Bronnbach & Gamburg – Two extraordinary buildings from the late Romantic period

Special Guided Tour with Hans-Georg von Mallinckrodt, Gamburg In Bronnbach, the church and the cloister buildings from the main construction phase of the second half of the 12th century have been almost completely preserved. The same is true at Gamburg. There, the richly decorated hall, one of the best-preserved secular buildings of the period, surprises visitors with its significant wall paintings. The excursion will first explore the architectural history in Bronnbach and highlight the stylistic features of the buildings. This will be followed by a tour of Gamburg. The Gamburg’s highly prestigious character will be illustrated by the wall paintings there, which are likely the oldest secular murals north of the Alps. The buildings in Bronnbach and Gamburg will not only explain construction practices in the High Middle Ages and provide insight into the stylistic and formal design of various building projects, but they will also be presented as testimonies to the vibrant history of the 12th century in the Tauber Valley. 12:15 – 1:45 p.m.: Special guided tour of Bronnbach Monastery Drive to Gamburg (approx. 7 km) by private vehicle 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.: Coffee and cake at Gamburg, followed by a special guided tour of Gamburg
