Country of production Germany In 1992, a village is occupied for the first time in protest against lignite mining: Lacoma. Young people from Lusatia continue a struggle that began in the GDR as "new settlers." It’s about a village, a beautiful landscape, and our relationship with energy. Lacoma evolves into a cultural free space, defended in Brussels, Berlin, and in the trees of Lusatia through art actions and legal proceedings – until it is destroyed by the coal company in 2007. Fifteen years later, former activists meet again and share their memories. Personal stories and impressive historical documents bring the vanished place back to life on screen and recount the conflict over Lacoma from 1983 to 2007 firsthand. Film screening followed by a discussion with the audience (Green League invited).
