The Monk with the Whip

Crime comedy loosely based on Edgar Wallace by S. Keim With: Julia Horvath & Felix Tittel "This is Edgar Wallace speaking..." Well, more or less – because actually, it’s the theater director informing assistant Karin Thor and lighting technician Klaus Kongski about a disaster: The theater is full, but the entire cast, along with the set, is stuck in traffic. The horror shocker "The Monk with the Whip" is on the verge of falling apart, and the evening's box office earnings are at risk. Not entirely voluntarily, Karin and Klaus take the plunge: They step into all the roles themselves, leading to a madcap ride through outrageous plots and colorful characters. Everyone makes an appearance: the insane murderer, the quirky butler, a damsel in distress, or the bumbling Australian exchange detective from Scotland Yard. In wild improvisation, they jump from role to role and conjure up a ridiculous and fast-paced comedic thriller fun on stage, teetering on the brink of failure. A turbulent evening full of corpses, tea, and British humor – not just for fans of Wallace's famous black-and-white films.
