A 360° Show in the Planetarium

From the journey of photons racing through the world's largest particle accelerator in Europe to close-ups of the Big Bang and the young universe, the fulldome planetarium show "The Phantom of the Universe" explores the search for dark matter. The show reveals the first hints of its existence through the eyes of Fritz Zwicky, the scientist who coined the term "dark matter." It describes the cosmic choreography observed by Vera Rubin in the Andromeda Galaxy and then plunges deep into the Earth to see the most sensitive dark matter detector on the planet, housed in a former gold mine. From there, we travel through space and time to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, racing alongside particles before they collide. Along the way, we learn how scientists around the world collaborate to track down the components of dark matter. Suitable for ages 12 and up. For more information: Website
