FREDDY STAUDIGL Trumpet & ROBERT POBITSCHKA Organ

The "Candlelight Concerts" will feature two premieres on August 22, 2026: For the first time, a "Candlelight Concert" will take place in the magnificent St. Veit Church, the "Cathedral of the Wachau," in Krems. Continuously seeking attractive venues, the series decided on a concert in the Krems Church of St. Veit, which was first mentioned in the 11th century and completed in its current form in 1630. Additionally, the renowned trumpeter Freddy Staudigl will make his debut as part of the "Candlelight Concerts."

Freddy Staudigl will interpret works by Bach, Corelli, Charpentier, and a composition by Robert Pobitschka, who will accompany him on the organ.

Staudigl studied trumpet at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and at the Tanglewood Institute of Music in Boston. As a founding member of the brass quintet "Brassissimo Vienna," his concert tours have taken him across Europe, to Japan, and the USA. He has also reached a global audience through his solo performances and as a soloist with orchestras. Since 2001, he has regularly performed concerts for organ and trumpet at the Maltese Church in Vienna. He has recorded seven brass albums, numerous orchestral recordings, and three solo CDs. Freddy performs at various events, from papal visits to the swearing-in of the federal president, from live broadcasts on TV to the Opera Ball, and even at the requiem for Niki Lauda, as a soloist in St. Stephen's Cathedral or during film music recordings.

Robert Pobitschka has been performing as part of the "Candlelight Concerts" since 2003 and has been their organizational director since 2011. In addition to concerts in Austria and abroad, he also appears as a composer. During the Carinthian Summer Festival, he premiered his 1st Piano Concerto, and he was the soloist for the premiere of his 2nd Piano Concerto with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg.
