PIANO RECITAL

Robert Pobitschka – a regular guest in Greillenstein since 2014 – will give another piano recital in the Turkish Hall on June 27, 2026. The program will feature compositions by Bach, Haydn, and Brahms, as well as one of his own works.

Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita No. 4 in D major BWV occupies a central place in his oeuvre. It is considered one of his most intricate and complex compositions for piano; Bach chose this partita for publication in his music print op. 1 – he was already 41 years old at the time. The Sonata in F major Hob. XVI:23 is one of six sonatas that Joseph Haydn dedicated to his patron, Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, in 1774. The music can be seen as an attempt at a pointed, musical character portrayal of the prince. With its lyrical sound language and richness of melodies, along with depth and drama, Johannes Brahms' piano pieces op. 118 are among the highlights of late Romantic piano music.

Robert Pobitschka has been performing as a pianist since 2003 as part of the "Candlelight Concerts" and has been their organizational director since 2011. In addition to concerts in Austria and abroad, he also appears as a composer. As part of the Carinthian Summer Festival, he performed the world premiere of his 1st Piano Concerto, and he was the soloist for the first performance of his 2nd Piano Concerto with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. A work from his pen will also be heard at the concert in Greillenstein!

The Renaissance castle Greillenstein took its shape in the 16th century and has since been owned by the Counts of Kuefstein. Numerous rooms with original furnishings can be visited as part of guided tours.

The auditory enjoyment is enhanced by the atmospheric ambiance of the venue and – as with all concerts in the series – by candlelight.
