The oratorio concerts in the Stiftsbasilika Klosterneuburg connect biblical themes with a theologically and musically diverse interpretation, thus highlighting the liturgically significant times in a special light.

BEHOLD – WHOM? – THE BRIDEGROOM, SEE HIM – HOW? – AS A LAMB!

Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Matthew Passion is considered THE passion of the Baroque era. It is likely one of the most significant works of sacred music. The monumental opening chorus introduces the passion narrative, captivates the listeners, and directs the ear to the central chorale "O Lamb of God, innocent, slaughtered at the foot of the cross." With double choir and double orchestra, an extraordinary emotional and sonic depth unfolds over two and a half hours.

The internationally sought-after tenor Daniel Johannsen as the Evangelist, the Freund(t)-Ensemble, and conductor Daniel Freistetter create an evening full of inspiring thoughts, stirring emotions, and soothing sounds.
