After a brief introduction with Nepalese music under Buddhist prayer flags, Wolfgang Richter takes the guests on an exciting expedition report along the legendary trekking route to Everest Base Camp (5,380 m) and Kala Patthar (5,550 m), into one of the most impressive mountain worlds at the vast Khumbu Glacier and right at the "roof of our world": Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Above 3,000 m, everything changes: you walk slowly and need good acclimatization; at 4,000 m, everything tastes a bit different, and then the air becomes noticeably thinner. At 5,000 m – compared to European conditions, we are already in the highest alpine regions – putting on mountaineering shoes in the morning is already a challenge.
