Matthias Ringel: Harmony

In his fifth solo program, Ningel addresses the big picture: harmony—in music and society. Even the ancient Greeks had a daring thought: musical harmony and cosmic harmony are based on the same order. Ningel continues this thought and wonders about the state of harmony in the present. Why do today's times feel so out of sync? Is the pulse of the time not rather a form of arrhythmia? And why are these misanthropes unable to sing or dance? Whether it's painful kidney colic, hidden tragedies beneath one's own laminate flooring, or the omnipresence of screens in public spaces: with singing, piano, synthesizer, and various small instruments, he translates societal phenomena into music. Despite numerous awards in cabaret, Matthias Ningel unfortunately does not know how to set the world right. But as a PhD musician and cabaret artist, he tries to bring order to the chaos until a harmonious whole emerges. He teases the musicality out of things, turns words into drum grooves, and even manages to make the screeching asparagus peeler a solo instrument in the world orchestra. Harmony is universal musical cabaret for all generations and a love letter to music.
