From the operetta "Im weißen Rössl" by Ralph Benatzky, true hits will resonate this evening. The successful musical pieces are more relevant today than ever. The operetta itself revolves around stress of all kinds, typical of our times. A full hotel must still accommodate a surprise guest. Immediately, a great hustle and bustle breaks out among the management and staff. The drama unfolds. Just at this moment, the innkeeper is in an irreconcilable dispute with her cashier and head waiter Leopold Brandmeyer. But it’s not just the two of them causing unrest among the guests. A lawyer is present. Does he have unpleasant matters to attend to? It’s getting exciting. "Weiße Rössl" has a long history behind it. Several composers have contributed to it. In the 1930 version, new dances like the foxtrot were introduced. Jazz was already part of it. Elaborate dance scenes stirred up stages and films in those years. The incredible story of the operetta "Im weißen Rössl" reflects the social condition of Germany. Hard to believe, but true! During the time of National Socialism, the operetta was banned. Goebbels criticized the cheerful music revue in a then-prominent trade journal as too Jewish and lacking in quality. He was disturbed by the ordinary people in their traditional costumes and with their songs. The folklore depicted in "Weiße Rössl" was not suitable for the dictatorship of the time. Let us now look forward to songs like: "Im weißen Rössl am Wolfgangsee," "Die ganze Welt ist himmelblau," or "Zuschau'n kann i net..." More surprises will be heard!
