The True, the Good, and the Beautiful – have we really lost them today? These three concepts were not always separated as they are now – a look back at the Greeks shows us that they were directly related to one another: everything that is true was also considered good; all that is good was beautiful, and all that is beautiful was, in turn, true. This direct connection among all three terms has been lost over the years; each now stands on its own and no longer needs to apply to the others. Particularly in the current political discourse and in the news, one can observe how far we as a society have strayed from this principle. The focus has shifted; we overlook the good and beautiful things as we are overwhelmed by numerous bad news, wars, and crises. It is essential, especially in challenging situations, to continually direct our gaze toward the positive aspects of life. For the beautiful still exists – one only needs to go into nature, attend a concert, or visit an exhibition to find it. The Good, the True, and the Beautiful – all three are special sources of strength that we, as social beings, need for a thriving coexistence. They are central values of our society because they are indispensable for building successful relationships. Unfortunately, these values are increasingly undermined and weakened by politicians and public figures through the dissemination of fake news; thus, we are all the more called upon to make the True, the Good, and the Beautiful our guiding principles in life.
