Villas and Visionaries in the Manufacturers' Quarter.

On a walk from the Bear Crossing to the train station, we encounter a defining chapter of Feldkirch's city history from the second half of the 19th century. Along Bahnhofstraße, the extremely wealthy manufacturers residing in the city had magnificent villas and expansive parks built. To this day, they impressively testify to the development of the (textile) industry in Vorarlberg, the growing prosperity, and the pronounced self-image of the entrepreneurial personalities of that time. While gazing at the elegant houses and graceful gardens, we immerse ourselves in the worlds of life of the manufacturing families on this guided tour – and in an era when industry, representation, and private life were closely intertwined.

Quarter by quarter, memories, peculiarities, and quiet narratives unfold, making Feldkirch so vibrant and multifaceted. Together, the tours form an exciting overall mosaic that shows how diverse Feldkirch is – and how much its quarters shape the face of the city.
