Of Taps and Guild Halls. The Neustadt developed into one of the most important thoroughfares of Feldkirch for trade and travelers after the construction of the road and bridge in the Felsenau in the mid-16th century. The new route through the Felsenau led to the relocation of many inns from the outskirts to the Neustadt and the former Walgaustraße. Centuries-old inns long formed the heart and soul of the Neustadt. In their parlors, great and small stories were written, political intrigues were forged, and convivial hours were spent in a guild-like circle. On a delightful walk to the historic taverns of the Neustadt, we learn how emperors and coachmen, famous personalities and ordinary citizens once stopped here. We unveil the secrets of legendary innkeeper families, hear about long-gone guild halls, and discover what liquid and solid delicacies were served within these ancient walls. Under the annual theme "Feldkirch's Quarter Whispers," the focus tours in 2026 open the doors to the hidden stories of the city and invite you to discover the city from new perspectives.
