The district by the Ill. The history of the Feldkirch suburb begins in 1379. The last Count of Montfort-Feldkirch had this district planned along the Ill and constructed under the direction of the city architect Bächli. Over the centuries, devastating city fires, floods of the Ill, changing needs of the residents, and traffic-related requirements have significantly shaped the appearance of the suburb. Join us on an exciting journey through time: How did the district "Winkel" between the water tower and the theft tower present itself until the 1970s? Where did the city wall once run – and what changes did its demolition bring? What stories do the impressive houses, the town house at Churertor, the Grebmerhaus, the Nockerhaus, and many others tell? The walk concludes with a picturesque view over the Ill towards Reichenfeld, as well as the impressive Art Nouveau facades of the justice building and the regional finance office. Under the annual theme "Feldkirch's Quarter Whispers," the focus tours in 2026 will open the doors to the hidden stories of the city and invite you to discover the city from new perspectives. Quarter by quarter, memories, peculiarities, and quiet tales unfold, making Feldkirch so vibrant and multifaceted.
