A Viennese family in the late 1950s: The vivacious Gerda rebels against her strictly Catholic mother, a religious teacher and supporter of Dollfuß, as she searches for her purpose in life. On her way to dance class, the young woman meets the charming yet enigmatic Swiss man Piero Burkhardt, who works for a refugee assistance organization of the Red Cross. What begins as curiosity and infatuation turns into passion – and the inexperienced Gerda becomes pregnant during their first nights of love.
