Movie Night - THE QUIET GIRL

The Taubenhof is showing the film "THE QUIET GIRL." The plot: At the end of spring 1981, 9-year-old Cáit is taken to live with distant relatives in the countryside. The quiet girl is supposed to spend the summer here without being a burden to her parents. She arrives at the well-kept country house with only the clothes on her back, which is accessed by an avenue of lush green trees. She does not know when or if she will return home. Seán and Eibhlín Cinnsealach are hard-working farmers who have achieved modest prosperity. Eibhlín cares for Cáit gently and lovingly, providing her with security and closeness. Her relationship with Seán is distant until he also allows the girl to help him with the animals and slowly opens up to the quiet child. In the care of her foster family, Cáit begins to blossom and discovers a whole new life. Yet even in this house, where there could be something like love for her, there is a silence that feeds off the quiet but persistent pain of its inhabitants. Hidden amidst this stark, beautiful Irish landscape is a secret that Cáit embarks on a journey to uncover, armed with newfound courage and trust. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
