Summer Choral Concert with the Gesualdo Ensemble
A cappella choral music featuring works by Schütz, Brahms, Nystedt, and others. Since its founding in 1986, the Gesualdo Ensemble has been dedicated to the preservation of a cappella music. The choir's repertoire ranges from the chromatic motets of Gesualdo di Venosa in the late 16th century to compositions by Schütz, Bach, and Brahms, as well as numerous works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The Gesualdo Ensemble places particular emphasis on a varied program design. A chronological arrangement of the works has been abandoned in favor of a much more interesting and contrasting thematic juxtaposition of pieces from different eras.
