Organ music at market time The popular concert series "Organ music at market time" continues. On Saturday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m., district cantor Thomas Rink from Überlingen will perform.
Thomas Rink has been district cantor at the Protestant Church in Überlingen since 2010 and in the Überlingen-Stockach church district, where he primarily plays a wide variety of music with people from the communities and the region. As part of the Auferstehungsmusik (Resurrection Music) program, he conducts the Heinrich Schütz Vocal Ensemble, the chorus laetitia, the Blockflötenkumpaney (recorder ensemble), and, depending on the occasion, mixed ensembles/bands with dedicated, often young amateur musicians. Before his appointment in Überlingen, he worked as a church and school musician, instrumental teacher, and publishing director in Switzerland.
He received his musical training in Switzerland: instrumental teaching in organ and piano (1991 in Winterthur) and choral conducting/church music (1995 in Zurich). Various master classes and study trips to organs and church music centers in Italy, France, Holland, Sweden, and also to northern and eastern Germany broadened and rounded off his studies. In 2019, he spent a semester studying at the Dresden University of Church Music. Since 2005, he has been a delegate to the European Conference for Protestant Church Music and, since 2019, fundraising officer for the Association of Protestant Church Musicians in Germany. As part of these duties, he maintains regular contact with colleagues, associations, and church music institutions throughout Europe.
In September 2024, the Protestant Regional Church in Baden awarded him the title of "Church Music Director" "for successful, reliable, and high-quality church music work in the Protestant diaspora situation in the Lake Constance region." Admission is free. Donations are welcome.
