Primarily known as the music director of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, but also as the principal conductor of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Englishman Sir Antonio Pappano has made a significant impact on the music world over the past few decades. He is once again guest conducting at the Haydnsaal with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe for two major works by two friendly composers. The brilliant young French pianist Alexandre Kantorow is featured as the soloist for the magnificent Piano Concerto No. 1 by Johannes Brahms. In contrast, Antonín Dvořák's dramatic and melodic Symphony No. 7 serves as an exhilarating counterpart.
