Conradin-Kreutzer-Straße 23, 88605 Meßkirch

"One of the most modern and exemplary school buildings in the Duchy of Baden" – the school building of the Conradin-Kreutzer-Schule in Meßkirch. A guided tour as part of the cultural focus 2026 on the theme of "Education" organized by the Kulturforum Landkreis Sigmaringen e.V. The existence of a secondary school in Meßkirch can be traced back to the commitment of the bourgeoisie around 1900. In 1904, the building was completed as a people's school and also as a secondary school, after the old one on Schlossstraße had become too small. The Konstanz architect Carl Engelhorn, who also designed the town hall, was commissioned for the project. The building was characterized by bright classrooms and well-equipped specialized rooms. Teacher accommodations and student restrooms were located outside, and there was central heating and electric lighting. The tour will also lead inside the school building to showcase the historic auditorium. Today, the building houses the Conradin-Kreutzer-Schule Meßkirch, a primary and secondary school.
