Amy Macdonald's ability to write positive, uplifting songs based on relatable stories about triumphs, struggles, and hope has made her one of the most popular artists in the UK. This talent has earned her a massive audience, five albums that reached the Top 5 in Europe (including a #1 album in the UK and two in Germany), over 12 million records sold, 12 international platinum certifications, and over a billion streams. She also draws large crowds in live performances, having captivated over 5 million people worldwide.

Now, Amy is opening a new chapter: on July 11, she will release her sixth album "Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?" through Infectious. She will present the album along with the lead single and title track, and announce a major UK and European tour, including a home game at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

Amy is gearing up for the album with numerous festival appearances, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Neighbourhood Weekender, as well as additional shows in Germany and Switzerland. "Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?" is a bold new collection of songs that shows the world why she has captured hearts. Without reservation, she sings in songs full of cathartic energy about experiences—both her own and those she has observed—regarding toxic friendships, the feeling of being trapped in relationships, and the courage to escape societal expectations. Survival and moving forward are strong themes throughout the album. It is also a tribute to her fans, whose loyal support makes all of this possible.

Amy says, "I feel very lucky to be at the point I am now. I have this career, good friends, my family, and people still seem to want to listen to my music—that's great. There’s something real in me, something raw—honestly, I improvise most of the time."

The captivating title track opens the album with a pulsating beat and dramatic cymbal crashes, as Amy unleashes an euphoric call. It’s a song that captures the electrifying power of a live performance and reflects the sense of connection she shares with her audience. At the same time, it serves as a vent for the constant pressure of the music industry.

She adds, "This song was actually inspired when the Sphere in Las Vegas opened—I woke up one morning and saw all these videos of it and thought: This is incredible! I was totally overwhelmed, and it reminded me that concerts are experiences. It inspired me and made me think about what music means to me, and that live performances have always been the most important thing for me. But streaming has created this constant demand for new music—it’s like an endless treadmill. This song is my perspective on how people are always expecting more music and social media content."

The single was produced by Nicolas Rebscher (AURORA, Louis Tomlinson), who shares production duties on the album with Grammy winner Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys).
