Alexander Wurz & The Egerlanders

On their grand anniversary tour, they not only carry decades of music history but also have a new musical director. Alexander Wurz is leading the Egerländer tradition into the future with a fresh sound and his own signature. And even though the "Original Egerländer Musikanten" continually reinvent themselves, the orchestra stands like few others for lived musical continuity, craftsmanship precision, and brass music at the highest level. Since its founding by Ernst Mosch in 1956, the "Original Egerländer Musikanten" have made a name for themselves worldwide. Mosch shaped the typical, emotional, and simultaneously swinging sound. Ernst Hutter led the orchestra for the last 25 years with his own arrangements and a new generation of soloists into the 21st century, paving the way for the enthusiasm for brass music that is now felt across all generations. Now, with Alexander Wurz, the next step follows: The 39-year-old tenor horn player and conductor, who has been part of the orchestra for 15 years, has been chosen by Ernst Hutter as his successor. With him, the ensemble remains true to its lineage while also being fully present in the here and now. Wurz does what Mosch and Hutter did before him: he continues to develop the orchestra with a sense of tradition, sets new impulses, and carries the music into the future with passion.
