Lößnitz Christmas Market with a Grand Mountain Parade

The Lößnitz Christmas Market, a staple of the Advent season since 1691, radiates a special festive atmosphere every year on the third Advent weekend. The historic marketplace and the city center transform into a sea of enchanting lights, accompanied by traditional sounds and enticing scents. The market is ceremoniously opened on Friday evening with the charming star march of the daycare centers and a prologue by angels and miners. A standout highlight is the grand mountain parade on Sunday. Around 450 miners march through the city in splendid uniforms, while the spectacle is broadcast live on a 21 m² LED screen, providing all guests with an unforgettable view. The market is accompanied by the sounds of the Lößnitz bronze carillon. In addition to the musical diversity contributed by regional choirs, brass groups, and dialect bands, exhibitions such as the model railway show in the "Putzwolle" and the lovingly curated carving exhibition in the brewery, showcasing local and Christmas mountains, invite exploration.
