KNITTING IN THE CINEMA: THE ELDERLY

Together with the wool boutique, the Astor presents the knitting cinema once a month. Knitting fans can indulge in their favorite hobby in a dimly lit setting while watching a selected film. Hannes (Sebastian Bezzel) has everything one needs to be happy: a loving family, a house in the countryside, and a solid career as a writer. Although the years of big bestsellers are behind him, Hannes takes it with stoic calmness – he simply enjoys being a husband and father. However, his family sees it differently: His wife Sara (Anna Schudt) and their children Carla (Kya-Celina Barucki) and Nick (Philip Müller) are increasingly annoyed by his overzealous care and late-boomer wisdom. Then everything happens at once: The publisher cancels his book series, Nick's prospects for graduating high school look bleak, and Carla decides to move out. When his wife Sara finally wants a break from their marriage and starts a shared apartment with their daughter Carla, Hannes’s comfortable world is turned upside down. He gives up – until he meets Vanessa (Judith Bohle). Will she be the one to finally kick Hannes out of his comfort zone? Directed by Sönke Wortmann, who has proven with films like DER VORNAME, DER NACHNAME, DER SPITZNAME, and CONTRA that he can touch the hearts of German cinema fans while also making them laugh, and based on the screenplay by novelist Jan Weiler, alongside Robert Gold (DER FALL COLLINI), the film features Sebastian Bezzel (EBERHOFER series) and Anna Schudt (“Hundertdreizehn”), as well as Kya-Celina Barucki (MÄDCHEN MÄDCHEN), Philip Müller (DIE SCHULE DER MAGISCHEN TIERE 4), Judith Bohle (“Safe”), Thomas Loibl (KONKLAVE), and Nilam Farooq (CONTRA).
