Lauffen - a tour through history, poetry, and nature

Guided tour through the "Dörfle" area in Lauffen with a focus on Nightingale Island. Cost: €6/person Lauffen am Neckar is a historic place with notable personalities and treasures. During a walk from the monastery courtyard in the "Dörfle" through "Lamparterpark" to the "Kiesplatz" at the confluence of the Zaber, we will take a journey through the eventful history of Lauffen, which began even before the Romans. One of the city's most famous sons is the poet Friedrich Hölderlin. Since 2022, Lauffen has been officially allowed to call itself "Hölderlinstadt." We will learn more about him at several memorial sites, such as the artwork "Hölderlin im Kreisverkehr" and the Hölderlin monument. A special focus of this tour is the diverse natural and cultural landscape in and around Lauffen. With the "Nightingale Island" behind the town hall fortress, Lauffen has a unique gem right in the Neckar. This "bird island" was the first official nature reserve in all of Germany, purchased and protected by a private individual. Those who wish may bring their binoculars to this tour.
