STEFAN TEMMINGH, Recorder NUOVO ASPETTO – ENSEMBLE KÖLN Works by Michael Nyman, Henry Purcell, Thomas Preston, Chick Corea, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, Antonio Vivaldi, Tarquinio Merula, Jean-Baptiste Lully The South African recorder player Stefan Temmingh – awarded the OPUS Klassik 2022 for his CD "Leipzig 1723" as "Concert Recording of the Year" – is among the world's top performers on his instrument and currently lives in Munich and Freiburg. SWR Kultur describes him as "one of the great recorder virtuosos of our time." A look at his discography shows that he is an artist who not only repeats but also creates new traditions and sets standards. As a specialist in early music, Stefan Temmingh performs worldwide at renowned festivals and concert series with his ensemble. As a soloist, he appears with various Baroque, chamber, and symphony orchestras in Europe, Asia, and Africa, some of which he also conducts himself. In addition, he initiates and performs various projects and premieres of contemporary music. Since 2019, he has been teaching as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and, starting in 2025, at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. The ensemble Nuovo Aspetto was founded by Michael Dücker, Johanna Seitz, and Elisabeth Seitz. The name is programmatic: with the rediscovery of Baroque works for unusual ensembles, the ensemble continually offers new perspectives on seemingly well-trodden repertoire and provides genuine discoveries with its exquisite programs.
