Bronnbach 9, 97877 Wertheim

0 It has become a cherished tradition to celebrate Pentecost in Bronnbach with the festive sounds of trumpets and organ music. This year, the Stuttgart Trumpet Ensemble and cathedral organist Prof. Johannes Mayr (Stuttgart) will be our guests. They will present magnificent trumpet concertos, meditative works for corno da caccia, and virtuoso organ music by J.J. Mouret, J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, and J. Clarke on the historic Schlimbach organ. Which concertgoer hasn’t experienced this yet? Reverent silence, then it rises—this divine music—amidst the harmony of trumpet, organ, and the church interior. The members of the Stuttgart Trumpet Ensemble have been performing together since their studies at the music conservatories in Stuttgart, Cologne, and Würzburg. They are perfectly attuned to one another down to the smallest detail. When these four excellent musicians invite the audience to a Festive Bach Trumpet Gala, the audience knows that something truly special awaits them. They have been engaged for concerts and trumpet parts in cantatas and oratorios by Bach, Handel, and Telemann at numerous festivals (including Europäische Kirchenmusik Schwäbisch Gmünd, Münsterkonzerte Ulm, Zwiefalten, Konstanz, Schwarzach, Bronnbacher Klassik, Ottilianer Konzerte, and Festival D’Art Sacré in Antibes). Johannes Mayra is among the most innovative organists of our time. He is an award-winning master of organ improvisation and captivates audiences with his inimitable ability to coax previously unheard sounds from the organ. After completing his studies in Catholic church music in Stuttgart, he served as a full-time church musician with a deanery appointment in Bad Wurzach and as regional cantor at St. Fidelis in Stuttgart. He teaches at the Tübingen University of Church Music and organ improvisation at the Stuttgart University of Music. Since 2011, he has been the cathedral organist at St. Eberhard’s Cathedral in Stuttgart. In 2015, he was appointed Director of Church Music, and in 2018, he became an honorary professor. He has received numerous awards at renowned international organ and organ improvisation competitions. The Bronnbach Monastery Church is considered one of the most significant monastic churches in southern Germany. Its construction took over 60 years, until its altar was consecrated over 800 years ago, on April 28, 1222. However, this altar no longer exists, as all the altars that had stood there until then were destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. Over the centuries, the church interior has been redesigned several times. In this former Cistercian abbey, idyllically situated in the Tauber Valley, Romanesque architecture and the radiant sound of the historic Schlimbach organ combine in a unique way to create a perfect concert atmosphere. For over 30 years, in addition to church services, the abbey church has regularly hosted concerts featuring renowned soloists and ensembles, which are regarded as musical events far beyond Bronnbach. Box office and admission: from 4 p.m.
